It is empowerment for women,
the biggest and nicest festival
celebrated in Manipur, India.
On the 2nd Lunar Day of Hiyang gei
(Meeteism mythology), i.e. October-last
week or November-1st week, the daughters
who married away at different places
are invited for the great and special lunch
like grand feast to parental houses.
Everybody have geared up
since about one month left
that all start to arrange
all necessities for the festival.
Markets are crowded amazingly.
Various business men come
from outside too for selling new
varied articles and products like
jewelry, clothes, foods etc.
Emma(mother) Market is the
biggest market showing the
biggest picture of shopping.
On this great day, the ladies wearing
special dresses and bringing gifts
with their kids arrive over to the
birth places, parental residences.
They meet the childhood things, friends,
and relatives again. The brothers, sisters,
parents and others take the lunch
together gladly. After the lunch they
receive too the lovely symbolized
gifts from brothers and parents.
Local organisations too perform
the festival greatly by inviting the
orphan women and others.
